Perfect Mood Board

With the arrival of April, spring is fully taking over the reins in nature, so our next theme is colorful capsule closet for True Spring.

The colors of True Spring are warm and sunny, based on a yellow base. Daffodils and tulips, Easter chickens and colorful eggs, lush grass and a cloudless sky, fields of Provençal lavender, and the landscape of Portofino best capture the atmosphere of this color palette. Compared to Bright Spring, the color intensity is lower, as there’s no trace of winter left in this color type. The palette thus appears joyful and friendly, accessible, and playful, rather than surprising, dangerous, or unpredictable. It’s like comparing a box of colored crayons to a coral reef – lush freshness versus the shocking intensity of color.

The colorful capsule closet for True Spring reflects the energy, freedom, and creativity of this Season. Color and sunshine are its most important characteristics. Unlike with Winter-influenced types, the contrast of light and dark is not essential. However, color contrast is crucial, so don’t be shy of mixing greens, reds, blues, yellows, and oranges from your color palette. No one but True Spring can pull off such combinations. True Spring looks boring in just one color head-to-toe. In two, she looks conservative. With three, she becomes interesting, vibrant and creative, and her natural beauty can truly shine. Caramels, yellowish grays, and creamy whites play the role of neutral colors best. Pure, shiny gold complements the outfits beautifully. Below you can find a few outfits that can be created within this capsule.

The capsule formula is the same as in previous posts in this series: 1 dress, 2 bottoms, 6 tops, 1 coat, and 2 pairs of shoes, which are enough to create two weeks’ worth of outfits, without the need for repeat any of them. The tomato red blouse is perhaps more vibrant than the other pieces, toeing the line between True and Bright Spring. On the other hand, the green skirt leans slightly toward Light Spring, but the difference is so subtle that it doesn’t disrupt the cohesiveness of the entire capsule. Please remember than colors often look different in real life than in photos, so always compare clothes and accessories purchased online with your color fan.

The colorful capsule closet for True Spring was inspired by the Archetype known as the Muse, or Yang Natural (YangN), hence the elongated, slightly flowing forms of the clothes. Soft flow and draping work beautifully on the Muse’s body type. For this Archetype scoop necklines (some of the ones selected to the capsule are a bit too shallow), as well as open V, boat necks, and halter necks are the most flattering. Cowl necklines and batwing sleeves are fantastic. Long column skirts and wide-legged or boot-cut trousers best suit the proportions and shapes of the Muse’s hips and legs. Accessories are angular and organic, or soft and deconstructed. The Muse’s style is often eclectic and artistic, but as there are many women, so are there many interpretations of this Archetype, and it would be unfair to simply label it “boho” or “70s.”

In the next post of this series, I am going to present a sample capsule in Light Spring colors. I’d love to hear your suggestions in the comments as to which Archetype you’d like me to consider for the upcoming post.
