Choices for 3 Summers
It’s gotten so cold outside that your summer jacket just isn’t enough anymore. You look into your wardrobe and realize that besides black, gray, navy blue, and beige, you haven’t got outerwear in any other colors. But does a woman’s coat have to be neutral? Color is tempting, but how can you find something that matches your color palette in the limited selection of colorful coats available in stores? What color should you choose for a coat so that it is easy to style it with your hats, scarves, and shoes? What color to purchase to avoid getting lost in the gray and drab crowd this winter, but feel and look stunning in the cool, muted colors of Summer instead?

Light Summer
Instead of succumbing to the dreary gray outside, maintain summery feel by incorporating flower and fruit-colored coats into your wardrobe. Lilac and raspberry may not be easy to find in stores this time of year, but if you purchase a coat in one of these colors, it will serve you for years.
True Summer
Dusty purples and plums will be elegant alternatives to black for you. What if you take it one step further and make it even more colorful? For example, purple combined with pink in a pattern? Especially if the pattern has slightly blurred transitions between colors, making it more Summer-friendly. If you’re looking for something even less obvious, opt for a pale, cool yellow.
Soft Summer
At first glance, these dark green and cherry coats look like the kind of colors Dark Winter would reach for. However, if you look closely, you’ll notice a muted, graying effect that Winters lack.
What to wear these coats with?
Light Summer
Raspberry coat can be paired with a hat, scarf, bag, and shoes in light neutral colors from your palette. Such color combination looks like a delicious summer dessert – fresh fruit accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Lilac coat can be styled with neutral accessories as well or you can take it to the next level by combining it with something light and colorful, like yellow. Imagine a bouquet of lavender carnations and white lilies. Many women passing you on a street will be wondering how you came up with the idea to combine these colors in one outfit.
True Summer
Introducing new colors to a patterned coat can overwhelm your outfit. Use the colors already present in the pattern (shades of pink and purple) and repeat them in the rest of the outfit.
The yellow coat is very light, but it has a black trim, zipper, and other details. This kind of contrast is typically more flattering to Winters than Summers, so you may want to neutralize it. You can do this by building a bridge from light to dark with accessories in your neutral colors, from stone gray, through medium gray, to graphite.
Soft Summer
Analogous color combinations look fantastic on Soft Summer. You can build your look around the green coat with colors that are adjacent on the color wheel, such as green, turquoise, and blue. Different textures (wool, suede, leather) and patterns will give your outfit a unique touch.
A hat, a scarf, shoes, a bag, and belt you wear with the soft cherry coat can be in beige and brown tones with plum and cherry undertones. This color combination exudes calm and elegance. Use the coat’s color as a guide to choose a lipstick to go with this outfit.

The perfect coat
The selection of coats for this post was based primarily on colors. I didn’t consider fabrics, style, price, or current trends. We all have our own preferences, and we all have different body shapes and budgets. Whether it’s an elegant fitted style or a casual oversized one; leather, wool, or polyester; trendy or timeless – it has to be perfect for you and you only. My goal is to show you that you’re not limited to the classics: a black wool coat, a navy blue parka, or a beige double-breasted trench coat.
Finally, I’d like to remind you that colors in photos don’t always reflect reality perfectly. If you order something online, test it at home with your color fan to make sure the coat belongs to your Season.
